New Year’s Collaging

Saturday, January 9
11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm UK / 8pm CET · 2 hours · Online · Free

Let’s be clear up front about what this isn’t. It isn’t a values check, a goal list, or a vision board for your five-year plan. I love those things. This just isn’t that.

This is archetypal. Image-led. A little mysterious.

You bring a question you have about the coming year. Give me some direction on work. On love. On my health. Then we let the question go. You flip through magazines and pull the images you’re drawn to, without asking why. We’re quiet for a lot of it. You paste them all down. Then you dialogue with the collage you made, and it usually has something to say.

I’ll guide you through the whole thing, step by step. It feels delicious.

I’ve done this every year for a long time, first with Linda Shanti McCabe and later with a couple of other artists who each brought their own flavor. Now I bring mine.

Bring:

  • A big stack of magazines (more than you think)

  • A poster board

  • A glue stick

  • Scissors, if you like cutting more than tearing

  • A journal and pen

  • Plenty of space to spread out, cut, and tear

A heads-up on time: we’ve run out of time at two hours for the last three years. If the group wants to share our collages, we may meet again about a month later to talk about them.
